A one day B grade game of cricket in the Red Cliffs Cricket Association was all over in less than 50 minutes at the weekend.
The game was scheduled to be of 36 overs for each team with Nichols Point captain Andrew Lloyd winning the toss and batting under ideal weather conditions and on a perfect pitch.
But his side was all out for nine runs in nine overs with Cardross opening bowler 31 year old Cody Dalla Santa taking 5/5 from five overs and his partner Graeme Rosebottom taking 4/4 from four overs.
The first wicket to fall was a catch by Brodie Hawke off Cody’s first over and after that eight batsmen were clean bowled.
Brodie Hawke also secured a run out.
Only two Nichols Point batsmen scored – one made two runs and the other was out for one with the team tally bolstered by seven wides from the Cardross bowlers..
“Cody and Graeme bowled a good line and length and every thing went right,” Cardross captain Darren Bock said.
“We didn’t worry about the 10 minute break between the innings – we just walked off and sent the two openers out to bat.”
“I told our openers them we wanted to get the runs but not to lose wickets.”
Mick Leask of Nichols Point bowled a wide first ball to make Cardross 0/1.
Brady Dalla Santa (Cody’s 29 year old younger brother) then hit the third ball to the fine leg boundary and then two further boundaries through cover point from the last two balls of the over to make the score 0/13.
The other opener Guy Mottershed did not face a ball.
