Saturday August 18 is the date set for the new 2012 Great Australian Vanilla Slice Triumph at Merbein.
The committee, under the auspices of the Merbein Development Association (MDA), is excited about the event and aiming to make it the annual ‘must go to’ event on the Sunraysia calendar.
Planning has been underway for some months and committee members have travelled to Ouyen to meet members of Ouyen Inc. who have been happy to pass on a few tips and their support.
The program for the day is being finalised and will include visiting celebrities, baking competitions, free entertainment, produce and food stalls and varied activities for people of all ages.
Anne Nash who heads the vanilla slice competition sub-committee urges not only all district bakers to enter, but all members of the public.
‘It doesn’t matter what age you are, have a go and enter one of the baking competition categories for Professional, Innovative, Amateur and Students’, says Anne.
Chairman of the committee, Leon Wagner, encourages all district residents and visitors to mark their calendars and come and participate in what will be a great day in Merbein on Saturday, August 18th, 2012.
‘The event will have something for everyone’, says Leon.
