A song written about growing up at Wemen, near Robinvale, has won an Australian Country Music Award at Tamworth 2010 festival.

“When I was a boy” was written by Sara and Greg Storer about growing up in Wemen and attending school at Robinvale.

Sara began a singer-songwriter career in 2002 after being discovered in the Northern Territory and while her brother Greg co-wrote several songs with her, his career as a recording artist began in January 2009 when he released a debut album at a concert held by his sister.

Greg co-wrote three songs with Sara – Crow, Silver Skies and Chiller’s Bend - for her earlier albums and then wrote all 11 songs for himself on his debut album “Backwater”.

Greg and Sara would sing around the campfires when growing up and went to school at Robinvale.

Greg played football for Robinvale and was a member of an Eagle premiership side in the 1990’s.

The Storer’s left the Robinvale area when their parents Lindsay and Fay Storer sold up and headed for Coonamble in Western New South Wales.

Queenslander Troy Cassar-Daley won six golden guitars and will go tour almost immediately with a performance at the Coomealla Club at Dareton on Tuesday February 16.
