Victoria has recorded 397 new cases of coronavirus since yesterday, with the total number of cases now at 10,931.

The overall total has increased by 354 due to 43 cases being reclassified – largely due to duplication.

Within Victoria, 37 of the new cases are linked to outbreaks or complex cases and 360 are under investigation.

There have been three new deaths from COVID-19 reported since yesterday. They were a woman aged in her 90s, a man in his 80s and a woman in her 80s. Two of the three new deaths are linked to known outbreaks in aged care facilities. To date, 116 people have died from coronavirus in Victoria.

Last week, we announced that face coverings would be mandatory in metropolitan Melbourne and Mitchell Shire. We recently announced the same requirement will soon apply across regional Victoria.

That means from Sunday night at 11:59pm, a face covering will be mandatory whenever you leave home – wherever you live in Victoria.

As Eid al-Adha has commenced, it is important that we remind Victorians to stay safe and protect their family and community.

We understand this is a sacrifice for Victorian Muslims, but while we may be physically apart, we can be spiritually connected.

It is important that every Victorian takes this virus seriously and that we all do the right thing.
